Kailyn Lowry: Putting Her Unborn Baby at Risk?!
It's almost baby time for Kailyn Lowry!
She's 35 weeks pregnant right now, which means there are only five weeks until her due date.
Of course, women often don't make it to their due date after they've had multiple pregnancies, so since this is her fourth child, she could definitely be greeting her baby sooner rather than later.
In the past few weeks, she's been sharing a lot of information about the pregnancy and how everything's been going.
Last month, she revealed that the baby was breech, meaning that its feet were pointing down towards her cervix and its head was up by her ribs.
It's not ideal - would you want to give birth to a baby feet first?
She hasn't mentioned that since, so we imagine Baby Lowry got himself in a better position.
Let's see ... she's said that her pregnancy this time around has been very easy, but that "Emotionally, this has probably been my toughest pregnancy."
And that makes sense.
After all, she has an order of protection against the baby's father, Chris Lopez, so those aren't exactly the happiest of circumstances.
She hasn't chosen a baby name yet, but she has shared some of her top picks, one of them being Cortland.
That was pretty interesting, considering, you know, Jenelle Evans' ex-husband shares the same unique name.
And now, in a new Q&A she shared on Instagram, she's sharing even more information about how things are going right now.
She told her followers that her biggest craving right now is watermelon, "but it needs to be ice cold."
Another thing that was mentioned was the process of putting the placenta into capsules after the birth so you can consume it.
She asked if anyone knew of a place local to her that would do that for her.
But the thing we thought was most notable was when she said that she'd be having a home birth this time around.
Because ... really?
A lot of women really enjoy home births, which is definitely understandable, but there are definitely risks involved.
Like, you know, the part where you're at home and not at a hospital.
We get why Kailyn would want a home birth, especially now during the pandemic.
The only thing is that it seems kind of scary considering the things that have been going on with this pregnancy.
As she explained in this Q&A, she has an anterior placenta this time around, which is when the placenta attaches to the front of the uterus (it's normally in the back).
She said that it's been "incredibly hard" to get any ultrasound photos of the baby since he's so big now.
And while having an anterior placenta is far from the scariest abnormality during pregnancy, it seems like her doctors really want her to give birth in a hospital.
A couple of months ago, she wrote on Twitter that "New doctor is pushing for induction. I've never been induced [and] had smooth labor [and] deliveries. Experiences??"
She explained that the doctor "claimed my placenta 'could stop working' and 'doesn't even want me to [go one to two] days past my due date.'"
She said then that she still didn't feel like there was any need to induce.
So unless something changed between then and now, which is definitely possible, this is an interesting situation.
It sort of sounds like she's going against medical advice in having a home birth, right?
Doctors often know what they're talking about, especially when it comes to simple, straightforward matters like this one.
And in addition to the concerns she stated, about her doctor being concerned that her placenta would stop working, her anterior placenta also means that her baby has a higher chance of being backwards when it's time for delivery.
Which often makes for a much more painful, more difficult labor, and sometimes requires a C-section.
But like we said, Kailyn could definitely have heard something different by now, and of course it's her call regardless.
